RV Roof Repair Cost Calculator
Roof work is the most common mobile RV job in Mesa and the most commonly deferred. This calculator prices it from the pricing page ranges: a reseal at $500–$1,200, spot repairs and AC gaskets below that, and membrane or decking work at $2,000–$3,000 and up.
What moves a reseal around inside its range most is the amount of dead sealant we have to dig out, not what the rig is worth or what the roof is made of. A 40-foot fifth wheel that has not been resealed in seven years has several times the labour of a 24-foot trailer done two years ago. So the calculator asks you for both the length and when the roof was last resealed.
Why this matters more here than anywhere
Lap sealant is a flexible compound that relies on plasticisers to stay pliable. Arizona sun bakes them out. Rigs that would go seven or eight years between reseals in a mild climate need attention every two to three years in the East Valley, and the daily thermal cycle works every joint mechanically on top of that.
Then the monsoon arrives in July: short violent storms, sometimes several inches in an hour, frequently sideways. Sealant that was merely cracked in June finds out in August. The right month to do this work is May or June. Already have a drip? Start on the roof leak page to track it down, and see the roof repair service page for what goes into doing a reseal properly.
What the estimate cannot see
The one thing a form cannot price is rotten decking. If the roof flexes underfoot, water has been in the structure long enough to reach the wood, and that is a different job with a different number. It is found by walking the roof, which is part of the trip fee, and we tell you before anything else happens. A reseal over wet decking is not a finished repair, so ask us how we will confirm the deck is dry.
Send the estimate through the quote form and we will book the walk. The general repair calculator prices everything else on the rig.
What will my RV roof work cost?
Answer four questions to price a reseal, a repair, or a larger membrane job. The ranges are the ones published on the pricing page.
A reseal is $500 to $1,200 on the pricing page and membrane or decking work is $2,000 to $3,000 and up. Within that reseal range, a longer rig or a longer gap since the last reseal pushes the number up, since each adds joints we have to dig out.
Send this estimate to the quote formAn estimate, not a quote. Soft decking is the one thing that changes a roof job completely, and it is found by walking the roof, not by looking at photos.
Frequently Asked Questions
How often does an RV roof need resealing in Arizona?
Every two to three years is realistic here, against seven or eight in a mild climate. Ultraviolet light destroys lap sealant long before it destroys a roof membrane, which is why resealing is maintenance rather than repair.
Why does rig length change the price so much?
Because the work is in the joints, and a 40-foot fifth wheel has far more seam, more vents, more penetrations, and usually two air conditioners. The sealant itself is a small part of the cost; digging out the old sealant properly is most of the labour.
What if you find soft decking?
You get told before anything else happens, with an honest assessment of what it would take and whether it is worth it on your rig. Resealing over wet decking is not a finished job, and nobody can know the extent of rot without opening it up.
Is the inspection worth paying for?
If you do not know the roof's history, yes, particularly in May before monsoon season. It is the cheapest line on this page and it is the difference between planning a reseal and discovering a leak in August.
